How can therapy help me or my child?

Therapy can be a valuable space for growth, healing, and emotional regulation. For adults, therapy may help with stress, anxiety, depression, or life transitions. For children and teens, therapy supports emotional development, helps manage behavioral challenges, improve or build a positive self-esteem, and builds coping skills often through play, storytelling, appropriate to developmental capacity. I work closely with parents to ensure you feel supported and informed throughout the process. Therapy is not about "fixing" a problem it's about creating a path toward greater emotional well-being.

3

How long does therapy last?

Every person and every child is unique. Some people benefit from just a few sessions to get through a rough patch, while others prefer ongoing therapy for deeper work. With children, progress often depends on consistency, family involvement, and developmental needs. We work together to create a personalized plan that fits your goals and timeframe.

4

Is therapy confidential? Even for children?

Confidentiality is central to building trust in therapy. For adults, everything shared in session is private, with exceptions only when safety is at risk. For children and teens, we take extra care to balance privacy with parental involvement. While I won’t disclose every detail shared in session, we’ll always inform you about important themes, safety concerns, or anything that could benefit your child’s well-being. I believe in collaboration, especially when it comes to supporting young minds.

5

How do I know if therapy is right for me or my child?

If you're feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or simply want to understand yourself better, therapy may be a helpful step. For children, therapy can be especially helpful when they're having trouble expressing feelings, adjusting to life changes (like divorce or school issues), or experiencing anxiety, sadness, or behavioral concerns. If you're unsure, I'm happy to schedule a phone consultation to talk through your questions and help you decide.

6

What happens in the first therapy session?

The first session is about building comfort and understanding. For adults, we’ll talk through your goals, history, and what you hope to get out of therapy. For children, the first visit may feel more like a friendly introduction—with toys, games, or art to help your child feel safe. Parents are typically involved in this initial meeting to share insights and collaborate on treatment goals. My aim is to create a calm, welcoming space for everyone.

7

How often will sessions take place?

Most clients, adults and children, begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and connection. As therapy progresses, sessions may be adjusted based on your needs or your child’s development. We’ll stay flexible and check in regularly to make sure the schedule supports your goals.
